I have the same issue on a ZenBook UX433FLC. The internal speakers work at least some of the time, but whenever I plug in headphones I just hear a loud irregular clicking sound. The headphones work fine in Windows 10.
As I recall, when I initially ran Ubuntu off a live USB before installation, I checked the audio using headphones and it seemed to work just fine.
