Since logging this bug entry, I suffered a corrupted root filesystem.  I
don't know for sure that the hanging on boot followed by me forcing
reboots was the cause, but I guess it won't have helped. :/  I guess my
SysRq S+U+S+B didn't work quite as well as I'd thought.

I was unable to recover the filesystem so I've had to reinstall Ubuntu
20.04.  Luckily it was just the root filesystem that was lost so a
reinstall was quite straight forward.

I don't expect that a reinstall will have fixed the hangs (my kernel
version is precisely the same as before), so I'll update when I see them
again.
