Public bug reported:

Whenever the opacity of an object is changed to <1 that object vanish.
This occurs on my laptop (Intel HD Graphics 620) and on my office
desktop (NVIDIA GP108).

This appears to be a problem only with the repository version - I have
removed the repository version and installed both version 5.7 and 5.8
directly from the ParaView website and both versions correctly rendered
the change in opacity.
