Tested. Is present also in the latest drm-tip kernel. There is something I have found that may help: If I install Ubuntu 16.04.0, the issue is not present, but once I update (apt-get upgrade) the problem appears, but there is the interesting detail: if I start the upgraded 16.04 with the initial kernel, the issue is still happening, so... Maybe is not a kernel related issue? Or a mix of the kernel and something else?
