HI, I have the similar issue but I don't know if the proposed patch here will help me, as my laptop is a Lenovo ideapadY700-15ISK:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1882388 I'm pretty new to Ubuntu, so I don't want to try anything new until I have confirmation, as I had to re-install twice the system because of several unsuccessful touchpad 'fixes'. My touchpad is recognised as a generic mouse and onoy has the basic options working. Sometimes is recognised as a touchpad, after I do several times: ```sudo modprobe -r psmouse``` ```sudo modprobe psmouse``` It is really frustrating... Please help.
