Public bug reported: This is a regression, with kernel 4.15 everything works fine, with 5.3.x, 5.4.x it does not.
Mounting of a DFS root is possible with all kernels with this fstab entry: //company.com/dfs00 /mnt/dfs00 cifs users, domain=de,username=xyz, noauto 0 0 Then, with 4.15 it is possible to traverse (browse) /mnt/dfs00 Also with both 4.15 and 5.x it is possible to "ls /mnt/dfs00" But starting with 5.3 trying to, e.g., "ls /mnt/dfs00/subdirxy" fails with the following sequence of mount errors reported in the system log: CIFS: Attempting to mount //someserver.company.com/dfs00/subdirxy CIFS VFS: BAD_NETWORK_NAME: \\someserver.company.com\dfs00 CIFS VFS: BAD_NETWORK_NAME: \\xy.company.com\subdirxy CIFS VFS: BAD_NETWORK_NAME: \\xy.company.com\subdirxy ** Affects: linux-meta-hwe (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887351 Title: CIFS / DFS mount: traversing folder structure no longer possible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe/+bug/1887351/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
