Hi Wouter,

Did you make sure that hddtemp was in the cache before doing this? To be 
  sure you could do someting like:

hddtemp /dev/sda
<wait until hard drive spins down>
hdparm -C /dev/sda && hddtemp /dev/sda && hdparm -C /dev/sda
