The only explanation for a freeze I can see in the log of comment #4 is
this recurring kernel/hardware problem:

Jul 16 12:06:21 bmariner-Inspiron-7375 kernel: pcieport 0000:00:01.1: AER:
Corrected error received: 0000:00:01.0
Jul 16 12:06:21 bmariner-Inspiron-7375 kernel: pcieport 0000:00:01.1: AER: PCIe
Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Data Link Layer, (Transmitter ID)
Jul 16 12:06:21 bmariner-Inspiron-7375 kernel: pcieport 0000:00:01.1: AER:
device [1022:15d3] error status/mask=00001000/00006000
Jul 16 12:06:21 bmariner-Inspiron-7375 kernel: pcieport 0000:00:01.1: AER:
[12] Timeout

which is about vendor "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD]" device
"Raven/Raven2 PCIe GPP Bridge [6:0]". So I think that's related to the
graphics card.

If you can then try a different graphics card or even just a different
kernel version from:
