I was looking at jq and if we could/shoudl support it more deeply.
As part of that I was checking open bug and found this one.
Probably not important for anyone else in the community since then nothing 
happened :-/

Also in terms of content, 1.5+dfsg-2 is quite some difference - I think
you only really want(de) the code for https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=833213

In general adding new features and even more so new packages (which
would happen in this case) is very rare on the SRU policy's [1] terms

Also this is a package in universe and (due to being not watched by
anyone, no-one chiming in and so on) is rather old (two LTS back) and
unlikely to get such a change.

IMHO upgrading to one of the two following LTS is (as of today) the by
far better option.

Therefore in terms of expectations I think it would be better to clearly
mark this one Won't Fix.
