ubuntu 7.10 with Chinese fonts and msttcorefonts installed. after this upgrade, all applications window including title bar, maximize, minimize close icons disappeared. downgrade package: sudo apt-get install libcairo2=1.4.10-1ubuntu4 problem solved.
