It sounds like gnome-shell was frozen:
ago 10 22:44:55 Pitx-PC systemd[1742]: gnome-shell-x11.service: Killing
process 2047 (gnome-shell) with signal SIGKILL.
But maybe some useful crash also preceded that so please check
/var/crash for any crash files.
