The actual problem is that qtparted's entry in the menu should be "gksu
qtparted" and not only "qtparted".
I have confirmed this is still the case in 7.10.
The exact error message is shown in the attached screenshot. The error
message is also confusing referring to the root account which is not
active in ubuntu by default. That is a separate issue for which I will
write another bug report.
