Henrik,

I really think this should be fixed on Gutsy.

* This is a regression from edgy.
* This causes loss of data (mythtv fails to record)
* The fix effects only two lines of code.
* Andre Morten says "whoops, yes" when asked if the fix should be made.

This problem breaks mythtv on amd64.
Attempting to record TV from a cable box using the firewire port causes
the mythbackend process to silently crash.

I have patched the kernel (using the gutsy kernel sources and editing
the two suggested lines) and have been running mythtv perfectly for
about a month now.
Before the fix mythbackend crashed about once a day and I missed many
recordings.

I suspect many mythtv users are unable to diagnose the source of this
problem. (Which is why you aren't seeing more demand for getting this
fixed.) There are no messages in the mythtv log files indicating what
went wrong. The only clue is a cryptic message in the kernel log file.
I did quite a few google searches and reading forums and mythtv mail
list archives before I found my way to this bug.

I would really, really, really like to avoid having to recompile the
kernel every time a new version is released.

I bet mythbuntu AMD64 users would really like to see fire wire start
working right.

Regards,
Mike Sebastian
