I can further confirm that taking out the btrfs scan in /usr/share /initramfs-tools/scripts/local-premount/btrfs fixes the intermittent boot issue for me. For me, this causes some deadlock between btfs scan and floppy driver and requires reboot, not just slow!. This may be a case of 'separate bug needed' .....
