Thank you for your response. I apologize for not being able to give any detailed explication for the nature of my problem.
The command was entered. However, the problem was fixed. I believe its due to the Nvidia proprietary 440 driver. Initially when I built the system, I used the drivers that were supplied by nvidia and they working fine and no problems while I was running my parallel programs. However, on monday there was an update for the drivers, and after that anytime I try to implement mpirun or hwloc-ls When I removed the nvidia propitiatory driver and used the open source ones and the problem was gone and both mpirun and hwloc-ls were running with no problems.
