Hi, for an update a service needs to be restarted. In your log we can see: mysqld is running as pid 21177 Error: Unable to shut down server with process id 21177
And if we go to the error log of that time we see: 2020-09-03T18:07:20.564914Z 0 [System] [MY-010931] [Server] /usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections. Version: '8.0.21-0ubuntu0.20.04.4' socket: '/tmp/tmp.mhu1RS5uIS/mysqld.sock' port: 0 (Ubuntu). 2020-09-03T18:07:21.126668Z 0 [System] [MY-013172] [Server] Received SHUTDOWN from user <via user signal>. Shutting down mysqld (Version: 8.0.21-0ubuntu0.20.04.4). 2020-09-03T18:08:27.653996Z 0 [System] [MY-010910] [Server] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete (mysqld 8.0.21-0ubuntu0.20.04.4) (Ubuntu). So the new server started (8.0.21-0ubuntu0.20.04.4) and then come some upgrade processing. For that it seems it was restarted once more but that took 65 seconds. I'd assume there is a timeout involved. Doe this resolve when you just upgrade it again? P.S. the reason this appeared "out of nowhere" for you is that this was a background update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1894137 Title: package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.21-0ubuntu0.20.04.4 failed to install/upgrade: »installiertes mysql-server-8.0-Skript des Paketes post-installation«-Unterprozess gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1894137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
