Public bug reported:
I had the same problem, exactly the same look with the latest kernel, of
Xubuntu18 and also I tried UbuntuBudgie18, and both did the same. On my
laptop (NC8000) the screen looks like someone has disrupted the pixels
with little rectangular stuff. I had to go back a kernel via Grub and
advanced options before I could read properly anything on the screen.
And yes, I have just two 32 bit computers, although I also have 64 bit.
But both 32 bit ones with the newest kernels for xubuntu or Budgie mess
up the screen, and the kernel before that doesn't. I imagine that’s the
case with all of the newer kernels with Kubuntu, Lubuntu etc..
And the kernels are 5.0.037 which works. And 5.0.047 which has the
distortion shared.
here is the lshw -c video listings for the laptop (32 bit)
