Public bug reported:
[Impact]
On some high-end Lenovo ThinkPads with dual GPUs(Intel+Nvidia), there is a
setting in BIOS to choose Hybrid Mode(means enable both Intel and Nvidia GPUs)
and Discrete Mode(means only enable Nvidia GPU)
We found that with the latest nvidia-graphics-drivers-450 (450.66), if
the laptop's BIOS change to Discrete Mode, then Ubuntu 20.04 sometimes
cannot control the monitor brightness, the fail rate is about 50%.
[Fix]
We get a new version of nvidia driver from Nvidia, 450.76, which can fix this
issue in our testing.
[Regression Risk]
Low, upstream driver.
