Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When changing the preferred mail application in gnome-default-
applications-properties (like from Evolution to Thunderbird), the
"Evolution" mail icon in the top desktop panel (between the Firefox and
the Help icons) doesn't change - it will still start Evolution instead
of Thunderbird.

Even though the panel icon states that it starts Evolution, I think if I
switch my preferred email app to TB, it makes no sense to keep an
Evolution icon in the panel. Btw. I have seen this effect on WinXP,
where switching the preferred browser/email app from IE/Outlook to FF/TB
also changes the "Internet" and "Email" icons in the Windows start menu
- pretty neat and userfriendly.

>From a technical point of view, I suppose this is somewhat difficult to
integrate into Gnome. Maybe some clever symlinking could do the trick?
Maybe similar to the Debian Alternatives system, but per-user...

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
