Following a tip from [1] (the user there suspects their laptop is erroneously entering tablet mode) I blacklisted the kernel module intel_vbtn and it seems to do the trick, my laptop keyboard works again on kernel 5.4.0-48.
I found a few other bug reports which may be related or duplicates. One ([2]) suggests some kernel parameters as a partial fix, the others ([3], [4], [5]) have no solution [1]: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208525#c9 [2]: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208945 [3]: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208853 [4]: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1894012 [5]: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1894125 ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #208525 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208525 ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #208945 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208945 ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #208853 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208853 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1894017 Title: Keyboard not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1894017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
