Thanks for reporting this. Unfortunately the logs captured for this bug
didn't include the error message or crash dump that would permit
diagnosing it, so I'm going to close it at this time. We have had one
other report of a crash during installation of php7.2 (LP: #1772203) but
I am doubtful that is the same as this.
If you are able to reproduce it either with php 7.2 on ubuntu 18.04, or
with php7.4 on 20.04 or 20.10, please file a new bug report and
hopefully it collects more detailed logs.
