It is visible, try running say:

  snap install --no-wait spotify

The commands outputs a change number, then run, this periodically:
 
  snap change <id> 

On my system it shows:

$ snap change 406
Status  Spawn                Ready                Summary
Done    today at 13:13 CEST  today at 13:13 CEST  Ensure prerequisites for 
"spotify" are available
Doing   today at 13:13 CEST  -                    Download snap "spotify" (42) 
from channel "stable" (0.00%)
Do      today at 13:13 CEST  -                    Fetch and check assertions 
for snap "spotify" (42)
...

$ snap change 406
Status  Spawn                Ready                Summary
Done    today at 13:13 CEST  today at 13:13 CEST  Ensure prerequisites for 
"spotify" are available
Doing   today at 13:13 CEST  -                    Download snap "spotify" (42) 
from channel "stable" (2.22%)
Do      today at 13:13 CEST  -                    Fetch and check assertions 
for snap "spotify" (42)
