I have reservations about linking to the daily builds from the alpha
release notes, because the alphas (and alpha release notes) are
targetted for a somewhat broader audience than the dailies, and daily
builds are not guaranteed to be installable at all (and in fact, often
are not installable).

That certainly doesn't follow; being bootable is one of the specific
things guaranteed for the alphas that's not guaranteed for daily builds.

And while a particular daily build may fix a bug of interest, each daily
build is only available for download for a few days, so there are really
no guarantees at all that a user will have a usable solution for a
livecd problem until the next alpha.
