I wonder if we can patch thunderbird to make it more robust in this kind of situation.
In the meantime, here is a workaround that should work for everyone affected: find ~/.thunderbird -name langpack*@thunderbird.mozilla.org.xpi -exec rm {} \; Then if thunderbird isn't localized in your preferred language, install the corresponding Ubuntu package named thunderbird-locale-$LANGCODE. Please let me know if this works for you. ** Changed in: thunderbird (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Olivier Tilloy (osomon) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901829 Title: thunderbird fails to open, xml parse error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/1901829/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
