While I'll investigate this myself once I've finished moving house and
have the rest of my working environment back, it might speed things up
if one of you could attach /var/log/syslog from the installer (or
/var/log/installer/syslog if you've rebooted into the installed system).
If you were willing to re-run the installer using 'sudo env
UBIQUITY_DEBUG=1 ubiquity' from a terminal window (be sure to use a
password you don't care about, as the password will appear in the debug
log file) and attach the resulting /var/log/syslog from that, then that
would help even more.
