I think I recognize that behavior and it should actually be fixed by this 
libvirt upload:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/6.0.0-0ubuntu8.2
See bug 691590 for more details on it.

You have that in place (...8.4 is reported) so I wonder what else might be 
missing for you.
The underlying FS has to be able to store xattr data, might I ask which 
filesystem it is that your ISO is on and if you might have any special options 
for xattr in your mount for it?
