I have this very same problem....but I did not see in this bug report
that NM see's the AP but refuses to connect if SSID broadcast is turned
off. I can understand why it might be a problem connecting if the AP is
hidden, but for Gutsy (NM) to know the AP is there, display the hidden
AP as a choice to connect to, but refuse to connect puzzles me. I read
the things people have tried here, and its all over my head, I have no
idea what most of the things are discussed here are.

I don't like having to broadcast my SSID, is there some simple cheat
someone can tell me that will let me connect to the hidden AP for now
until someone gets this fixed ? my SPEC's are: DD-WRT router(works great
for other wireless clients), WPA2-personal mixed tkip+aes, NetGear 54g
pcmcia wifi card ( prism54pci driver on wlan0).

Like everyone else here, if I turn on SSID broadcast, it works great,
but the minute I turn it off, it WILL disconnect the notebook and refuse
to re-connect.
