This is a problem because the errors also spew to the terminal -- corrupting whatever the user is doing now in the terminal.
Firefox is started with a terminal if the user runs (possibly indirectly through a script) something which uses xdg-open, for example, on a file when firefox is the handler for it. ###!!!
