The other bug isn't about application crashes, it's about gnome-shell
crashes which for Xorg sessions you might not notice happening.
Especially if you're in an application trying to go full screen.
To be sure which issue this is, please:
1. Reproduce the bug.
2. Reboot.
3. Run:
xrandr --verbose > xrandr.txt
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
lspci -kv > lspci.txt
dpkg -l > packages.txt
and attach the resulting text files here.

gnome-shell crashed with signal 5 in g_log("Error in freeze/thaw

WindowManager::_sizeChangedWindow
