Yes. When I said "hardware not programming" I meant that the problem was
with the hardware not the code.

Already ordered replacement hardware.

I admit I was hasty. Just because the problem suddenly occurred just
after a software "update" does not mean it was the update. It is just
that in my experience with Ubuntu, the software is usually the problem.
In fact, I usually do not report bugs because my bug reports are deleted
without any attempt to fix the bugs. At least one bug (easily fixed) is
over 6 years old - still not fixed. Who is responsible for the quality
of Ubuntu and who is responsible for regression testing. You cannot do
regression testing using only one computer.
