Yep, checked the devices (thanks!), and I get,
$ lsusb -v -d 046d:c52b | grep bInterfaceProtocol
bInterfaceProtocol 1 Keyboard
bInterfaceProtocol 2 Mouse
bInterfaceProtocol 0
Pretty much as expected.
Hmm, not sure what else to do - or is it just ... live with it?
