hi Jouni Mettala, I failed too make any progress with Grub i tried working with the emergency command line esq screen and despite looking up the commands on an adjacent PC i could not make any progress.
After getting frustrated I ended up downgrading the machine to an earlier version of Ubuntu 19.04 using an old dvd I have to boot it up. The machine is a dual boot Win 10 / Ubuntu machine it's an older i5 asus UX21E it runs extremely well on 19.04 and my plan is to try 20.10 probably on the weekend. I have downloaded 20.10 onto a memory stick (which i've made bootable) so after i decide if i want to try and keep the win 10 partition at all I will either do a complete wipe and restart or just overlay the 19.04 partition.
