Public bug reported:

Since I switched to a new screen (ASUS VG249Q1R) with higher refesh rate
and AMD FreeSync I notice massive flickering and tearing after waking up
from standby - but only when FreeSync is activated. The flickering
starts to occur on the login interface but continues after logging in
and also during full-screen applications like games.

The flickering is resolved in the short run by switching the refresh
rate to 60hz (via KDE display settings) and back to the favored higher
refresh rate. Alternatively I can turn FreeSync off. When I turn it back
on, the flickering recurs after waking up from standby again.

As this problem occured to other people after upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04
I assume it is not a hardware problem. The bug seems identical to these
reports:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1874588

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
amdgpu/+bug/1885363

My system has the following specifications:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: XFX Radeon RX 5600 XT Thicc II Pro
OS: Kubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Kernel: 5.4.0-58-generic
DE: KDE Plasma 5.18.5
Screen: ASUS VG249Q1R, FHD, 165Hz, FreeSync, …

I hope for a solution inside Ubuntu 20.04.
