Hi,

I can confirm that evdi 1.7.0+dfsg-1ubuntu1~20.04.2 in focal-proposed
fixes the reported issue. The evdi module can be compiled and loaded on
Focal with both 5.4 and 5.8 kernels.

$ dkms status
evdi, 1.7.0+dfsg, 5.4.0-59-generic, x86_64: installed
evdi, 1.7.0+dfsg, 5.8.0-34-generic, x86_64: installed

The autopkgtest tests were also successful with linux-hwe-5.8 kernel:
