Strange, it's working fine for me, I also hate to see windows moving against my will.
Could you try manually, i.e.: 1/ open a shell in workspace 1 2/ open firefox 3 in workspace 2 3/ in the shell, type : firefox-3.0 about:plugins do you see the firefox moved in workspace 1 ? Also, in Firefox preferences / Tabs, do you open new pages in new windows or in new tabs ?
