Public bug reported:
The issue to address here is the avoidance of conflicting dbg/dbgsym
files, generated by dh_strip (debhelper). see also
https://bugs.debian.org/981245
debugedit is built from rpm, so this would be a source promotion, plus a
binary promotion of debugedit and librpmio9.
- the packaging is standard debhelper packaging
. the source package in Debian is not regularly updated.
Just saw some NMUs.
- the tool tools/debugedit.c is rather self-contained,
only using some digest functions from librpmio.
The debugedit code was updated with upstream patches
to handle the new DWARF 5 debugging format.
Other solutions could be:
- carry a local patch to provide the digest functions
just for debugedit, or use an existing implementation
which already is in main. That would avoid the
dependency of librpmio9.
- Do the above, and split debugedit into it's own source
package. Then would require keeping up with new
rpm updates.
** Affects: rpm (Ubuntu)
