I have the same problem, I don't known how I reached the state where it is impossible to leave the maximized state.
Could this be the "path" to the problem? 1) Maximize the program. 2) Play a game, then when it ask me if I want to play one more time out quit, choose quit. 3) Next time you start the program it starts maximized with the problem. This was only a wild guess.
