Alright, I've had some time to test the nouveau drivers with my MacBook
and I'm switching back to the proprietary ones.

What I've found is the nouveau drivers: - can't suspend, - become
unresponsive sometimes (this was one of the reasons I switched back), +
are open source, + support Wayland which the next release of Ubuntu will
use by default. And the proprietary drivers: + can suspend - but become
glitchy afterwards, - are proprietary, - don't support Wayland. It's to
each their own to determine which is worse but I think the nouveau
drivers currently are for this computer at this current time

I'm hopefully going to be getting a new computer soon and I don't have
high hopes for this issue to be solved, I'm not using the drivers
anyone, and I don't have any intention of following up with this issue.
So I'm going to close it.
