The "patch" is to format the storage device using a different file
format, such as ext2 or ext3. VFAT cannot handle files larger than 4GB.
The linux and gnome utilities need to handle the situation more
gracefully, HOWEVER I believe the underlying size restriction is a
limitation of the file system.
