Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-app-install
Software installation from add/remove and automatic plugin installation
fails if network was down during Ubuntu installation. Add/remove keeps
on asking you to reload the package list each time you select a package
to install.
This is caused probably because online repositories are not added if
network was unreachable during Ubuntu installation. Enabling them
manually solves the problem. Although this is no issue for an
experienced user, a newbie would find no clue about what to do. It would
be better that add/remove automatically enables them for the user when
he selects a package to install or at least provide a dialog on what to
do instead of reloading the package list meaninglessly.
Observed on Ubuntu 7.10 32-bit
