I'm sorry I lost track of this bug.
fatrace is still acting strangely for me:
$ uname -a
Linux millbarge 5.4.0-65-generic #73-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 17:25:17 UTC 2021
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ apt policy fatrace
fatrace:
Installed: 0.13-2
Candidate: 0.13-2
Version table:
*** 0.13-2 500
500 http://192.168.0.22/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
$ sudo fatrace
bash(3168468): RCO /snap/lxd/19766/etc/bash_completion.d/snap.lxd.lxc
bash(3168587): O /snap/lxd/19766/etc/bash_completion.d/snap.lxd.lxc
bash(3168587): RC /snap/lxd/19766/etc/bash_completion.d/snap.lxd.lxc
Those three bash_completion accesses were from opening three new
terminals, with three new bash sessions. Within one of the bash sessions
I ran cat /etc/passwd ; cat /tmp/poc.c ; cat /var/log/syslog -- none of
these files, nor processes used to access the files, showed up in
fatrace output.
Thanks
