Public bug reported:
As of Ubuntu 20.04, the session "GNOME Flashback (XMonad)" session no
longer works. On entering my password and hitting return, the screen
briefly goes dark, then I am presented with the login screen again. I am
attaching an excerpt from the output of `sudo journalctl` of the 5
seconds within which that login attempt happened, hoping it helps.
