Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grub

2 problems:

1. After my Ubuntu 64-bit 7.10 (X-mode) installation is finshed, the
system is unable to boot from the PATA IDE drive. The bios is set to
boot from the PATA drive but the bios doesn't recognize the boot loader
that was written to the PATA drive. If I install Ubuntu boot loader
to the RAID mirror (which Ubuntu happily detects perfectly) , and then
set the bios to boot from it, then Grub boots fine with no problems.

2. the text mode server installation works to the raid mirror but if I
try it to the IDE drive it will fail during the file copy part of
install, which is why i had no choice but to use the X mode install
method.

My Hardware:
3Ware 9650SX + 2 1TB Seagate drives in a mirror
ASUS P5K-E motherboard
100GB PATA IDE drive (boot drive mounted to root) connected to PATA port
SATA LG DVDROM connected as IDE to Intel chipset onboard raid
2 x 2GB PC-800 ram = 4GB total

** Affects: grub (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
