Tested again - this time with Lenovo x230i.

I selected after boot "Try Xubuntu" and entered the desktop and
connected the WiFi network with no problems - then I ran the Install and
again ubiquity selected New York as location even though the network was
connected.

After the install I ran apport-collect as evident in comments #26 to
#32.
