Here are the dmesg entries the shell session

~$ mount /home/user/remote

~$ ls /home/user/remote/dfs-folder
dfs-subfolder dfs-entry
~$ ls /home/user/remote/dfs-folder/dfs-entry
ls: cannot access '/home/user/remote/dfs-folder/dfs-entry': No such file or 
directory
~$ umount /home/user/remote

It has no line "cifs_revalidate_dentry failed with rc". I will try again
later today to ensure that I did not mess anything up.
