Hi Jacob,

You appear to be installing old versions of PHP from Ondřej Surý's PPA,
and also installing both mysql and mariadb on the same system. For
Ubuntu 20.04, we support only PHP 7.4 with mysql 8.0. As you are
seeing, mixing mysql and mariadb can cause a lot of conflicts since the
two packages provide different versions of the same files.

You may have resolved this issue already, but if not you will probably
want to purge all php* and all mysql and mariadb packages, remove the
config files and data directories, and start over. If you need mariadb,
then do not install any mysql bits; OTOH if you need mysql then avoid
installing any mariadb packages.

** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid
