Well, that's strange: the first time I booted from the usb stick it booted fine, reaching logo on 25 seconds but the second time and the following it failed again (probably will boot after a long wait but I did not check)
I'm going to try to reproduce this behavior and send you some logs. The most curious thing is that this happened again with other tentative. I think that it was the gnome-disks flag one (the veterinarian way as you named it... XD). The first time worked fine but the following failed.
