Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tracker

Tracker-applet should have an option in tracker-preferences to hide the
applet.

As the Gnome HIG specifies it should be possible to hide (almost) every icon in
the system.
[ Even gnome-power-manager allows it, and it's important when you are running
on battery. ]

** Affects: tracker (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Low
         Status: Triaged

** Changed in: tracker (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low
       Status: New => Triaged
