Binary package hint: tracker
Tracker-applet should have an option in tracker-preferences to hide the
applet.
As the Gnome HIG specifies it should be possible to hide (almost) every icon in
the system.
[ Even gnome-power-manager allows it, and it's important when you are running
on battery. ]
