This looks like that fn+f1 generates two sleep events - the second one triggers another suspend transition after the first wake-up.
Please try "sudo showkey" in terminal and press fn+f1 as in your description such as the following example: $ sudo showkey kb mode was ?UNKNOWN? [ if you are trying this under X, it might not work since the X server is also reading /dev/console ] press any key (program terminates 10s after last keypress)... keycode 142 press keycode 142 release ex. #define KEY_SLEEP 142 /* SC System Sleep */ If you are seeing two pairs of 142 press/release, next step will be to identify and remove the redundant sleep event.
