Binary package hint: mplayer
mplayer will sporatically fail to load a divx file. when it does it uses
between 35% and 65% of system resources causing the fan to start. this
does not occur every time. i've removed and reinstalled several times.
the failures are always sporadic. once it failed just after install,
then it worked several times, then repeated the cycle. this occurs
whatever the divx file size. the divx files are working on another
system, they are complete and without problems i believe. i removed
mplayer complete, searched for it and when found did a second remove
finally ending up with only an mplayer directory, if i remember
correctly, in the /etc directory. this was removed, another search was
conducted where no mplayer was found. at that time i installed mplayer,
then started one of the two previous divx files. it failed requiring me
to use system monitor to kill the process. i tried the other divx file.
it failed causing the same process. i tried the first divx again and it
worked. i exited the program, tried the other file and it worked. what
gives?
